Did you know that until 1857 Santa Croce’s façade was just a simple sandstone covering? ⛪✨
On August 22nd, 1857, Pope Pius IX and Grand Duke Leopold II inaugurated the construction site for the new façade, designed by architect Niccolò Matas.
The transformation was extraordinary: from three plain almond-shaped portals to a neo-Gothic masterpiece adorned with luminous polychrome marbles—the same façade that enchants us today.
Only one element has remained unchanged since the late 15th century: the great circular stained-glass window that still shines at the heart of the basilica. 🌟
And you, which version would you prefer? The sober sandstone or the elegance of marble? Tell us in the comments below 👇

There’s always something new to learn about Florence—always a hidden corner waiting to be discovered. ✨
Take Piazza del Limbo, for example: one of the city’s oldest squares, dating back even before the 10th century. Once divided into two little squares—Piazza del Limbo and Piazza Santi Apostoli—it holds stories that few know today.
Legend says the nearby Church of Santi Apostoli was founded by Charlemagne himself in the year 801, though history tells another tale. And the square’s unusual name? It comes from its ancient role as the burial place for children who passed away before baptism, their souls believed to be destined for “limbo.”
Florence hides these layers of history in plain sight—reminding us there’s always more to uncover. 🌿

Welcome to the 5th episode of our Special Series Fashion & Florence! Today’s spotlight shines on Enrico Coveri—the designer who turned fashion into a celebration of color, light, and laughter. 🌈✨
Born in Prato, shaped in Florence, and celebrated worldwide, Coveri’s fearless style broke the rules of minimalism, replacing them with joy, individuality, and bold self-expression. His motto? “You can’t be overdressed.” 💃
From his dazzling Paris debut in 1977 to the Maison’s legacy carried on today, Coveri’s spirit is woven into Florence itself—right here on Via Tornabuoni, where our residence stands just steps from his historic boutique. 🏛️👗
