🔴 Florence, May 1993. A night that changed everything.
At 1:04 AM, in the heart of the city — just steps from Piazza della Signoria — a car bomb exploded on Via dei Georgofili.
It was a mafia attack. The impact was devastating.
The Torre dei Pulci collapsed. So did parts of the Uffizi Gallery and the Vasari Corridor. Fires raged through nearby homes.
Five lives were lost: Fabrizio Nencioni, his wife Angela Fiume, their daughters Nadia (9) and Caterina (just 50 days old), and 22-year-old student Dario Capolicchio.
It was a massacre. A tragedy. An unthinkable act of violence.
Dozens of priceless works of art were destroyed or irreparably damaged. Some were saved after years of delicate restoration. Many were lost forever that cursed night.
📅 Today, 32 years later, we remember. As we do every year.
Because memory is the path to build a better future.
