The Antica Torre Tornabuoni and art are inexorable. Starting with our building, a medieval tower dated 1200, transformed into an exclusive historical mansion where guests are involved in luxury and Renaissance art everywhere.
From our terrace, the Duomo, as well as the Ponte Vecchio and many other works of art of Renaissance architecture can be appreciated, during a meal, a drink or a simple moment of relax and contemplation.
But we are not just surrounded by Renaissance art. We also support modern art, which is why we display on our terrace the Seduta Baciami (the Carrara white marble lips), by Claudio Cuboni. “The desire to expose the Seduta Baciami on the rooftop of Antica Torre Tornabuoni finds in the sensitivity of the Director Maria Rita Bellini the beauty and exclusivity of the location”, says Cuboni.
According to him, the work satisfies the desire to create an enveloping sculpture seat, ergonomic and intimate, for those who, seeking contact with noble materials, discover the most intimate touch.
It is made of fine Taek wood with steel components, carbon fiber with leather covering that keeps the steel components, and finally in white Carrara, which for Cuboni remains the the closest material to his idea of classical sculpture. You can admire it in our rooftop Terrace Duomo.
The tilting movement of the Seduta recalls a rocking chair and the mysticism of prayer and shows the complexity of the realization. The carbon fiber goes through infinite phases of preparation, providing four layers of resin fabrics. It is only after this work that the artist goes through the coating and finally adds the steel components. And a curiosity: the Seduta finds realization between the islands of the Tuscan archipelago and its original land, the Sardinia.
