If you’re spending the summer in Florence and all you want is shade and fresh air, the “Parco Mediceo di Pratolino” is just the place for you!
It is a monumental complex recognized by UNESCO since 2013, and with several attractions for adults and children.
The one that draws the most attention is certainly the Colosso dell’Appennino, a work by Giambologna that impresses with its size – no wonder it is called The Giant – and perfection.
There are also other works and artifacts of the Buontalenti genius with original Medici layout (Chapel, Cupid’s cave, Stables, Villa Paggeria, Gamberaie), other than two Italian gardens in the Medici part.
For trekking lovers or for those who simply want to walk in contact with nature, the park offers several paths in the forest.
To complete, Pratolino is also an ideal destination for wildlife enthusiasts: there are 99 different species that inhabit the park; and flora, with valuable tree species such as silver fir, large oaks and other monumental trees.
The Park is open to the public from April 1 to October 29, 2023, from Friday to Sunday and holidays (with special openings on Monday, April 24 and Monday, August 14). Opening hours are from 10 am to 8 pm April to September, from 10 am to 6 pm in October. Admission is free and without reservation.
