How would you describe your role as Front Office Manager at Antica Torre Tornabuoni?
Important and rewarding, but also multifaceted and very dynamic.
What is the most gratifying aspect of your job?
Having been able to transmit to many colleagues the same passion I have always had for this work. I love the idea that work can be done while having fun.
Is there a memorable moment with a guest that you will always cherish?
There have been many, but the one I remember most fondly is reuniting with an American family who stayed at Antica Torre for nine months. Years later, they still make a point to stop by to greet me and share moments from their lives. This is very rewarding because, beyond the professional aspect, it nourishes the human connection, which has always been essential to me.
What details or services do guests appreciate most during their stay?
A personalized experience, with a tailored and attentive check-in, as well as a varied breakfast with organic products. Of course, our stunning terraces and the extraordinary cocktails crafted by our bartender. Ultimately, I believe the key to the Torre’s success lies in being empathetic and genuinely available. To us, guests are people, not clients, and this philosophy translates into an invaluable added value.
How do you ensure that every stay is a unique and personalized experience?
It takes consistency, commitment, and study. For me, attention to detail is more important than personal skills. Anticipating guests’ needs creates the illusion of perfection. The ultimate goal is to provide emotions. More and more, I realize that travelers seek recognition, care, and warmth just as much as excellent service.
What is a question guests frequently ask, and what is your favorite response?
My approach is always very friendly rather than managerial (unless there is a problem to solve). Guests often ask me how I manage to have such beautiful curly hair. I think it’s because men over 45 are often bald! ?
What are your personal recommendations for a first-time visitor to Florence?
Experience the city like a Florentine, not a tourist. Discover lesser-known corners and explore with the curiosity of a child. At the reception, we have plenty of recommendations to help guests see an authentic, lesser-known Florence. Beyond the Duomo and Ponte Vecchio, there is so much more!
Is there a hidden gem or a special experience in the city you would recommend?
Certainly, the Rose Garden, located between the Church of San Miniato and the San Niccolò district, is stunning, especially in spring. Another magical place is the Villa Bardini Garden on Costa San Giorgio. In addition to its breathtaking views, it occasionally hosts fascinating art exhibitions. Plus, there’s the restaurant La Leggenda dei Frati, which reinterprets Tuscan traditions with innovative and intriguing touches.
What makes Antica Torre Tornabuoni different from other establishments in Florence?
Undoubtedly, the team working here. To me, they are the soul of a magnificent shell.
If you had to describe the Torre’s atmosphere in a few words, what would they be and why?
Magical, ancient, strong. The beauty of a place that has existed for centuries. A reality that has managed to reinvent itself and withstand the test of time.
Is there a detail of the Torre that few guests know about but deserves more attention?
I would love for our Gianfigliazzi Hall to be used more as a communal space. In the future, I hope to host small weekly events here, such as book presentations by emerging authors. That will be my mission for 2025.
What is your favorite moment of the day at the Torre, and why?
Definitely the morning, when I gather with colleagues for a coffee before starting the day. We exchange greetings and chat before we all spring into action.
