On April 10, we joyfully celebrated the reopening of TornaB, the panoramic bar at Antica Torre Tornabuoni—a symbolic place overlooking the rooftops of Florence that welcomes guests with an embrace of beauty and authenticity.
After a careful renovation, the space now reveals a renewed identity—one that tells the story, art, and spirit of our city with even greater clarity and strength.
A harmonious blend of history and modern design
One of the most significant changes was the repositioning of the bar counter, designed to enhance the flow and harmony of the space. This new layout encourages conviviality and conversation, while preserving a strong aesthetic identity.
The color uniting the counter and tables is burgundy, a rich, meaningful hue. Burgundy recalls the noble wines of the Bordeaux region, from which it takes its name, but it also carries a broader cultural heritage: once the color of Roman nobility’s robes, it symbolizes luxury and refinement. It speaks of passion and roots, yet also of boldness and conscious choices—just like the experience we aim to offer our guests.
The bar counter, clad in ceramic with a textured, three-dimensional finish, creates a visual rhythm that interacts beautifully with the skyline. The reflections on Florence’s rooftops seem to amplify its charm, echoing the words of Giorgio La Pira, the city’s unforgettable mayor:
“The mystery of Florence’s rooftops lies here: they are, together with the Dome, almost a sacrament—mirroring and spreading beauty, purity, and heavenly peace.”
Cement tile flooring: artisanal tradition beneath your feet
One of the standout features is the cement tile flooring, chosen not only for its refined aesthetic, but also for its deep connection to Italian tradition.
Cement tiles are handcrafted colored tiles that first appeared in Italy between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Loved for their elegant geometry and the ability to create unique decorative patterns, each tile is different from the next, the result of an artisanal process that turns every step into a journey through time.
Bringing cement tiles into our panoramic bar means anchoring the design to our cultural heritage, making the floor not just a functional surface, but a true work of art beneath your feet.
A spirits menu deeply rooted in Tuscany
Our philosophy is also reflected in our carefully curated spirits selection, with a focus on Italian excellence and a strong preference for Tuscan labels.
From gin—featuring standout names like DU IT or Peter’s Gin (produced in Florence)—to herbal liqueurs and vermouths, every bottle tells a story of place, tradition, and vision.
The reopening of our panoramic bar is more than an architectural project—it’s a gesture of love for Florence and its guests. An invitation to pause, savor, and contemplate. Because here, between a sip of Tuscan gin and a golden sunset over the rooftops, every moment becomes a unique and unforgettable experience.
