[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]During the coronavirus pandemic, Firenze gained another 10 kilometers of ‘provisional’ bike lanes. The measure is part of the ‘mobility plan’ developed by Palazzo Vecchio to deal with phase 2 of the coronavirus emergency, which started on May 4. These bike lanes are being created on roads currently reserved for vehicle traffic, on a temporary basis, but Mayor Dario Nardella does not rule out the possibility that they will become permanent.<\/p>\n

In addition to these, the construction of an additional 12 kilometers of ‘standard’ bike lanes was announced, which will be built from now until the end of the year. In other words, Firenze will become an even more cycling and walking city when everything returns to normal.<\/p>\n

Therefore, we decided to suggest a route so that you can enjoy the city by bicycle. First, you\u2019ll need a bike. Therefore you can rent it at one of the businesses that offer this service or use the Mobike app, a bike sharing system that allows you to use the bike and leave it wherever you are when you\u2019re finished.<\/p>\n

Our route<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Our idea is that you start from the highest point, Piazzale Michelangelo (because, let’s face it, cycling up there is for the strong). After enjoying the view, go down Viale Galileo and then Viale Machiavelli until you reach Via Romana. From there, head to Piazza Santo Spirito<\/a>, where you can take a break for a drink or a bite to eat.<\/p>\n

Follow via Maggio to Ponte Santa Trinit\u00e0 and stop to enjoy the Ponte Vecchio<\/a>. Follow via Tornabuoni to Palazzo Strozzi<\/a>, turn right and continue cycling until Piazza della Repubblica. Follow Via Roma to the Duomo<\/a> and, from there, take Via del Calzaiuoli and proceed to Piazza della Signoria. There, take the opportunity to enjoy the panorama composed by the Palazzo Vecchio, the Loggia dei Lanzi, the Neptune Fountain and the Uffizi<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Follow Piazzale degli Uffizi to Lungarno, cross Ponte Vecchio and continue on Via dei Bardi until you reach Lungarno again, where a long bike lane awaits you for a peaceful ride admiring the scenery.<\/p>\n

At the end, return to Via Tornabuoni – using the bike path or trying out alternative paths – park your bike in our courtyard and climb up to our Panoramic Bar<\/a> to regain your energy with a good drink enjoying the view of Firenze from above.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
