On January 28, 1453, Simonetta Cattaneo was born in Genoa. A woman Florence would never forget.
When she arrived in the city as a young bride, something shifted. Her presence captured attention, inspired verses, and stirred the imagination of an entire era.
In a time when beauty was idealized and symbolism ruled art, Simonetta became the perfect muse — admired, celebrated, and endlessly reinterpreted.
The Medici court was spellbound. Poets turned her into a star, knights honored her in public tournaments, and painters searched for her essence on canvas.
Through Botticelli’s brush, she transcended time, becoming Venus herself — a vision of grace, harmony, and Renaissance ideals.
Her life ended far too soon, at just 23. Yet her beauty never truly left us. You can still find it today, in Venus’ gaze, floating softly through time.
💭 If you could ask Simonetta one question, what would it be? Tell us in the comments

Today, we remember.
We remember the lives that were taken, the voices that were silenced, and the paths that should never have existed.
Memory is not only about the past. It is a responsibility we carry into the present — and the future.

On January 26th, Florence remembers one of its most beloved legends 🌿✨
According to tradition, when the remains of Saint Zanobi — co-patron and spiritual father of the city — were carried from San Lorenzo to the ancient cathedral of Santa Reparata in 429 AD, something extraordinary happened: a withered elm tree, touched by the passing relics, miraculously bloomed again.
This moment, known as La Fiorita di San Zanobi, is still commemorated today by the Column of San Zanobi, standing proudly in Piazza San Giovanni, in front of the Baptistery — a quiet witness to faith, history, and renewal.
Born in the 4th century and deeply influenced by Saint Ambrose, San Zanobi became Bishop of Florence and played a crucial role in shaping the city’s Christian identity, guiding it through theological conflicts and laying the foundations of its first diocesan structure, including the original Basilica of San Lorenzo.
