Autumn Colors Meet History: The New Floral Arrangements at Antica Torre Tornabuoni

November 3, 2026

Autumn arrives in Florence with a palette of colors that transforms the cityscape. Warm shades of terracotta, ochre yellow, burgundy, and orange appear in nature, in gardens, and even on the facades of historic buildings.

At Antica Torre Tornabuoni, this atmosphere comes to life through a series of floral arrangements designed to accompany guests throughout the property, creating a dialogue between the season, the architecture, and the decorative elements that define this historic Florentine residence.

The arrangements were created by florist Letizia Lazzeri, owner of the floral studio FiordiLeti, who developed the project after carefully observing the Tower's spaces, colors, and architectural features.

A Color Palette Inspired by the Tower's Interiors

The choice of colors was inspired not only by the shades traditionally associated with autumn but also by the desire to create a sense of continuity with the property's interiors.

"I wanted to reflect the colors of Antica Torre, starting with the reception area, with its ochre and terracotta plastered walls, and moving toward the cooler, more understated shades of the top floor," Letizia explains.

Terracotta, found throughout several areas of the property, became one of the starting points for the entire project. "It's a color I find extremely beautiful, and it pairs very well with mustard yellow, burgundy, and softer shades of orange."

The different arrangements share a common theme while maintaining their own individual character. Shapes, colors, and proportions vary from one space to another, adapting to the features of each setting.

Flowers, Shapes, and Details: The Florist's Choices

To create the arrangements, Letizia selected flowers and botanical materials that reflect the many shades of autumn, also favoring preserved elements to ensure the compositions last longer.

Her selections include rose hips and oak branches, chosen to evoke the shapes and colors of the season, alongside flowers with a more striking appearance.

Sunflowers, for example, were used in an unconventional way: with their petals removed, they become decorative elements whose shapes, rather than their colors, capture the eye. "I used sunflowers as focal points, highlighting their structure rather than their color," the florist explains.

Other elements include cymbidium orchids, appreciated for their elegance and longevity, and eucalyptus, selected for both its foliage and flowers. "I used eucalyptus, both flowering and as greenery, to soften the rich color palette and also for its pleasant fragrance."

There are also more unexpected accents, such as strelitzia, whose touch of purple introduces a contrast to the predominant autumn shades.

Small decorative pumpkins also help create some of the most distinctive corners, reinforcing the seasonal atmosphere and complementing the floral arrangements.

A Dialogue Between Nature and Historic Architecture

Decorating a historic residence means working with spaces that already possess a strong aesthetic identity. At Antica Torre Tornabuoni, the property's architectural and decorative features played a central role in the design of the arrangements.

"The Tower's historic character has a significant impact when deciding to introduce a decorative element. I tried to highlight its distinctive features by drawing on the colors already present throughout the interiors," Letizia observes.

The goal is not to transform the spaces but to create combinations that complement their surroundings. For this reason, some arrangements explore tone-on-tone combinations, while others introduce bolder contrasts through shapes and colors. "The idea is to create arrangements that are elegant but also original, making use of the shapes and colors of the flowers, with combinations that enhance both Antica Torre's interiors and the floral selections."

The Beauty of Autumn in the Small Details

For Letizia, autumn is a particularly rich source of inspiration. "It's definitely one of my favorite seasons. Its warm tones and many shades perfectly embrace the property, and I think they make a beautiful color palette in general."

The arrangements were designed to catch the eye without overpowering the architecture, inviting guests to appreciate the details and observe the variety of forms found in nature. "The goal is to create focal points where people can pause for a moment and be captivated by the beauty of nature and its forms, reflecting the season."

A way of bringing the autumn atmosphere into Antica Torre Tornabuoni through a project in which flowers, colors, and architecture come together, reflecting the natural changing of the seasons.
