Piazzale Michelangelo
Designed in 1860 by architect Giuseppe Poggi and dedicated to Michelangelo Buonarroti, it is located on a hill south of the Arno and Florence’s historic center. The belvedere was created in 1865, when the city was the capital of Italy. From there, you will see all of Florence bathed in the light of an unforgettable sunset.
San Miniato al Monte
Located a bit higher than Piazzale Michelangelo, San Miniato al Monte is an ideal spot to catch the sun in Florence and watch it set. Here stands the splendid abbey of San Miniato al Monte, which can be visited for free and is dedicated to the city’s first martyr.
The overall view of the historic center of the city leaves everyone speechless: the Oltrarno walls, Forte Belvedere, the Arno and all its bridges, and then the Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio, Santa Croce, and so on. In the background, you can see the hills of Fiesole and Settignano, Monte Morello, and the beautiful arc of the Apennine peaks.
Forte di Belvedere
Another amazing place to see the sunset is Forte Belvedere. Located on the ancient city walls of Costa San Giorgio and surrounded by the greenery of the park, it offers a breathtaking view of the city’s historic center.
Open to the public in the summer (until October 2), for free, it often hosts exhibitions (which are not free) and events.
Ponte alle Grazie
Here, you won’t have a panoramic view of the city, but you will see the setting sun frame the incomparable Ponte Vecchio. Just find your spot over the bridge and lose yourself in the moment. It is something that you will never forget.
Antica Torre Tornabuoni’s Rooftop
That’s for sure the best view of Florence!
The dome of Santa Maria del Fiore, the hills of Fiesole and Settignano, the Arno River, the Santa Trinita Bridge and Via Maggio, the church of San Miniato a Monte, Forte Belvedere designed by Buontalenti, the hill of Bellosguardo, Palazzo Vecchio, the bell tower of Santa Trinita: from our 2 rooftops, wherever you turn, Florence will show you all its splendor.
Enchanted by this view, you can spend time in our Panoramic Bar where there is an excellent wine list and many delights to be enjoyed.
And, of course, you will be able to watch the most incredible sunset of your life, with Florence at your feet.
